sottolostessocielo

This is a novel written entirely in sonnets; once you get over that, the story is quite simple. It starts out as a cheesy love story, and turns into a cynical take on love and the institution of marriage. I was in love with the wordplay and allusions peppered throughout this, although the rhyme scheme did somewhat limit the scope of what could have been said.

This book is thorough, interesting, and dense, but well worth getting through. She draws wonderful thumbnail portraits of her wide cast of players which help the reader stay grounded in the story despite the number of people involved. And the parallels between Olson's story are more than just fodder for the publishers press release - I'd love to talk to someone else who's read it to see what they thought.
